Shortcut is a math board game suitable for grades Prep and up. It makes subtraction, addition, division and multiplication FUN!

How is the game played?
With most games that involve the throw of a dice, movement forward depends on the numbers that show up when the dice are thrown. Not so with Shortcut. By rolling a pair of dice, a player can use any mathematical operation to add, subtract, multiply, or divide the numbers on the dice. The result becomes the number of spaces the player may move.Â
What are the benefits of playing Shortcut?
Any skill can be improved with repetition and practice. Playing Shortcut constantly exposes players to basic number facts. Rote learning has its place but does not provide the challenges and excitement of a competitive numbers game. Players construct their own learning by doing the math themselves or by watching other players do the same.Â
How can Shortcut be used in the classroom?
Shortcut is as much a fun board game as it is a valuable teaching tool. From the time a child begins to learn to add, Shortcut can be a useful teaching resource. Shortcut can be used at the end of a learning event to confirm knowledge or to practise a new skill.
